How are you going to make choices today? There are so many tools and resources we can use to build a house-hammer, saw, architectural software, money, catalogs, wood, etc. Likewise, we have lots of tools and resources which we can use in making choices!
Each choice we make is a pivot point. It closes at least one door and opens up at least one other door. And, perhaps annoyingly, we can't always know whether our choice "right" or "wrong." We have to make due with our choices. We can make a good choice "bad" by regretting which route we took excessively or repeatedly obsessing on the doors that we closed. And we can make a questionable choice good by creatively working with the obstacles it brought up and maintaining a good attitude through them. From that perspective, how we respond to our own choices are as important as the choices themselves!
I mentioned there are a lot of factors/ tools/ resource we have to consider when making choices. Some (but not all) of them are: our emotions, commitments, advice of mentors, physical or mental limitations, intuition, finances, cultural expectations, inspiration, compassion, personal belief system, our ambitions, imagination, family dynamics, doubt, our habits, , and even grace. All these components inform, handicap, or empower what we resolve to do at each crossroad.
In understanding our decision-making faculties, we have more power over our lives and are less driven by fear, impatience, and unhelpful attachments. It's an exciting question-how are you going to make choices today. Just notice how you make at least one choice today!
